First day of the month... time for a fresh start! The holidays are creeping around the corner, so we could all use a little extra motivation and accoutability to keep us going the right direction. This is going to be a long post, so bear with me. There's a lot of new programs and some changes in November... here we go!
Military Month starts today!
Bring in your ID and Group Classes are on the house all month long as a small thank you to all the men and women who have served our great country. We are also hosting WOD for Warriors on Thursday, November 10 at the 5:15am, 5:30pm and 6:30pm classes. You can sign up online at the link below to join us. There's different options ($20 includes T-shirt or $10 donation or free) that all support Team Red White & Blue. Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Team RWB Houston is a strong chapter with a lot of local events and members, and we're excited to be a part of it.
Healthy for the Holidays: 6-Week Challenge starts today!
We're taking measurements, picking teams and getting started today. Remember, this is not simply a weight loss challenge, but an overall health challenge to focus on getting more active and being mindful of what you are eating. We will have weekly emails sent out with additional information on food choices and other ideas and weekly winners! You will keep track of your points and email them in every week. We want to support and help you guys reach your goals, so let us know if you want to set up a quick meeting one-on-one to go over more specifics on your food journal, obstacles, goals, etc. Please reach out if you want to join in on the fun or if you have any questions. You can sign up for the Challenge through your YJ account, and there are options for the Challenge alone ($20) or adding 6 classes ($80) or adding 10 classes ($100). It's a great way to give YJ a try if you've been wondering what we're up to around here.
Teacher Boot Camp starts Wednesday 11/2!
Chelsea is leading our Teacher Boot Camp and it starts tomorrow. The group will meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:00, and the cost is $100 for the 6 week program or $10 per class. Again, this is a great value if you have been on the fence about joining us. The program is beginner-friendly and will challenge everyone, so give it a try and pass along to your teacher friends. This could also be a great early Christmas present for your favorite teachers : ) You can sign up online through your YJ account or we can get you set up in studio!
Youth Training Programs start Wednesday 11/2!
Jeramy is leading our Youth Athletic Training Programs and it starts tomorrow. The group will meet Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00pm and Fridays at 5:30-7:00pm. They will work on speed, agility, coordination, endurance, strength & conditioning, through age-appropriate exercises that are fun and will motivate your kids to keep learning and keep going. Jeramy is a former Rice University football player and track athlete and has great experience working with young athletes to set them up with a great foundation for exercise and athletics in the future. The 6-week program is $300 or $25 per class. You can sign up through your YJ account or we can take care of it in studio.
We are always striving to offer the best classes, flexbile schedules and a variety to keep you motivated and challenged. Every month we look at what worked best and build around that, to set the next month's schedule. In November, we have kept the early morning schedule consistent, and we've switched things up a little more in the mid-mornings and evenings. Coach Jen will now be teaching classes 5 days a week! We've also added a new class, Family Fit!
Family Fit Class:
Family Fit is a group class offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30am. This is a family-friendly class where your kiddo gets to workout along side you! The class will be a hybrid / boot-camp style workout that incorporates a lot of bodyweight exercises, along with fun tools like the battleropes, jump ropes, bands and medicine balls. This class is open to all ages of children and allows them to be as involved as they want. Your preschooler can do squats with you, or your little one can play with toys on the side and watch you work. This is a beginner-friendly and more relaxed class, while still getting in a challenging workout scaled to each client's experience level and goals in mind. Everyday will be different and we can incorporate strollers in on pretty weather days too. We're open to ideas as we build up Family Fit, so send us any suggestions or ideas you have!
